{Fall Picks} BOOTS for Gals with Larger Calves!!!!!

I am so freaking excited!!!!  I found boots!!

Now, before you go and say, "Um, Jen, there are boots at every store that offers shoes," let me say that I have monster man calves.  As in, I can NEVER find boots that don't make my lower leg look like I'm smuggling a small infant in them.  I played softball for almost my entire life {from age 4 to 19}, thus, I developed some pretty muscular legs.  Considering I was meant to be a heavier or "big boned" girl, the fatty parts of my legs turned man muscle.  I try to embrace it and be thankful of the fact that they could just be fat legs instead of massively muscular, but fall/winter always makes me sad because I can never find boots that fit them.  ALAS... I have found the holy grail!  I was shopping Sunday and I decided to stop in Maurice's in the mall.  I really like Maurice's clothes, but usually only shop there when I have a coupon or they are running some kind of deal.  Their clothes are nice, but the quality doesn't necessarily match the price.  I went in to get a black jacket because I like the fit/cut of their jackets.  While I was perusing, I noticed their boot wall.  As I do at every boot display, I sighed and walked away.  While commencing to shop, I couldn't get the boot idea out of my head and finally, to make the sad thoughts in my head disappear, I decided just to try a pair for giggles.  I grabbed a half size larger than my usual shoe choice {I wear an 8 1/2} and sat down on one of their ottomans.  I put my foot in and immediately started to take them off because I just felt like they weren't going to fit, then I decided to zip.... I kept zipping... and zipping and they zipped with no force.  I was so ecstatic I almost jumped off of the ottoman.  Then, doubtful me, I figured when I looked in the mirror they still wouldn't look quite right.  Although they fit, I was then concerned that the eye would be drawn directly to the widest section of my leg - which I don't want.  I stood in front of one of those short shoe mirrors and was in awe.  I FINALLY FOUND BOOTS!

Now, here's the best part - they are $39 a pair BUT BOGO 1/2 off {I'm not sure if they offer the BOGO offer online}!  That's right, for less than $60, you, too, can get two pairs of fall/winter boots.  Because I'm a savvy shopper {aka a broke chick with a passion for fashion}, I got them even cheaper.  If you join their text club, you get a 50% off one single item at regular price.  This does disqualify you for the BOGO, but if you're like me, you'll find the 20% off coupon on their site and get the second pair for cheap as well.  Because I shop there semi-frequently, I also had a $10 off coupon.  So, to break it down, I got a black pair of boots for 50% off at $21 and some change.  Then, I got a brown pair for around $22 with the $10 off coupon and the 20% off chip.  I got two pairs for under $50.  I'm loving it.

I'm wearing the brown ones today {they are SO comfortable that I'm shocked} with this dress from Forever 21, black leggings from Old Navy, and a black cropped cardigan I've had for a while from Kohl's.

Have a pretty day, y'all!

{Fall Picks}: Are You Ready for Fall?

With cooler weather fast approaching, I've been doing some shopping to bulk up my fall and winter wardrobe.  As I add pieces to my "fall 2013 collection" {lol}, I'll be adding information on steals and finds!

 {photos from the following sites}
Faux leather fly away cardigan $44.95, New York and Company
Low-rise jean jegging in destroyed finish, $59.95, New York and Company
Leopard print infinity scarf, $18.99 {sale}, Kohl's
Studded black flats, $18.00, Old Navy

This week, I purchased some great pieces that can be interchangeable for a lot of different looks.  I also got some great deals!  Here are some of my tips for shopping on a budget:

  • I never shop full price at New York and Company.  Almost every week, they offer a coupon for at least $30 off a $75 purchase.  I used that to purchase the jeggings and leather cardigan.
  • The scarf was $10 off at Khol's in the sale section - there was another one that was identical but another brand that was twice the price.
  • I used some reward bucks that I used at Old Navy when I purchased the shoes.
  • Remember, you don't have to spend a lot to look nice.  If you know the stores you plan to shop, prepare by looking for deals or coupons online before going into the stores.
  • If you aren't a planner, bookmark those sites in your phone and most stores will allow you to show the virtual coupon with your cell to get the deals.
  • Being savvy = the opportunity to purchase more items, and that makes me a happy girl!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more fall fashion items and deals!  Stay pretty!

{Review}: Sally Hansen in S-teal a Base + Sally Hansen Target CLEARANCE Alert

Sally Hansen Target CLEARANCE Alert

Hey gals!  I just wanted to pop in really quick and tell you about the Target clearance I discovered yesterday and provide a quick impression of Sally Hansen's S-teal a Base.  From what I saw, their entire Sally Hansen section was on clearance.  This included polishes {even the new Sugar Coat and Fuzzy Coat polishes}and color nail strips. I wanted to grab one of the Sugar Coat polishes, but they were already sold out of the color I wanted {Sour Apple}.  They did have Cotton Candies, though, which I may go back and pick up just to try it out.

Sally Hansen in S-teal a Base

I did pick up S-teal a Base and Presto Pink in the Insta-Dri polish. I have to say, for S-teal a Base, the color does go on differently than what is seen in the bottle.  To me, the bottle shows a more teal hue (hints the name), but when placed on the nail, it is much more green.  I added a layer of Essie Lux Effects in Pure Pearlfection on top to add some shimmer.  Honestly, now the color really reminds me of Oz.  I like it, but I am not big on bold greens on my nails.  I am excited to try the pink shade I picked up as well, so I will be providing my impression in a few days!

{Tresses Tuesday}: LBB and NuMe!

Hello my peeps!

I'm sorry it has been a bit since I've posted, but a lot has happened.  There was a huge tornado in my town which caused some serious damage.  My apartment complex was unharmed, but I was without cable and internet for a few days - so, I apologize.

Today is {Tresses Tuesday}, and what better way to celebrate than to purchase a hair tool?!  I received an email from Little Black Bag today that they are offering NuMe wands and straighteners for only $49.95!  The curling wand I have been eyeing for a while is $155, so I HAD to scoop it up.  I'll post a review once I receive it and am able to play around with it.  From all of the reviews from my YouTube gals that I already watch, everyone loves theirs!

You can get one too, here: { Little Black Bag }

Also, I posted yesterday on the Beauty and the Belle Facebook page that the winnder of the polish giveaway is.... {drum roll} .........

{Sale Alert}: Kohl's Faux Leather Biker Jacket

I rarely shop at Khol's, mainly because I simply forget there is one in my town.  I had some down time the other day and was in need of a gift for a person that is difficult to shop for and I immediately thought about Khol's and their plethora of randomness.  If you've never been there, they have a little bit of everything, and sure enough, I found a gift.  I also found a great sale!  I picked up a few things {most of which aren't even offered on the website anymore, so I didn't bother to post them here}, but my favorite was this awesome faux leather biker style jacket.  It's a very fun jacket and I have already paired it with a few different looks.  The best part is the price.  The jacket regularly was priced at $84 which I would never pay for faux leather, however, I picked it up for $54!  It is still available online, so go grab one if you don't have a Khol's.  It is true to size and very nice quality!

{Sale Alert}: NY & CO Jewelry

New York & Company is having a huge jewelry sale! Everything {with the exception of new items} is 70% or more off regular price. I paid no more than $2.50/each for these earrings and the set of three rings was only $6! My total for all of this was $18.71.
